Perfect stay – thank you

Absolutely lovely house with everything we needed during our 10 day stay. Great communication from the owner; very comfortable rooms and a perfect, large pool set in a beautiful garden. Very private and quiet location. We had no need of a car as the house is a quick trip by very reasonable and incredibly prompt taxis, or bike (provided) ride into Dalyan town. Walking distance to town, although best avoided in the high heat of summer! Teenagers very happy with the WIFI (and Playstation) but nothing could beat the appeal for all of us of watching the swallows and bats swooping around the palms at sunset from beside the pool. We’d love to return as there is so much to do in the area, and we would most definitely book here again.

Villa D’Louca – Splendid

Lovely villa supplying everything you could possibly need. The 4 bicycles were an added extra that the younger members took advantage of to go into town. If you want to leave your car behind, a taxi into Dalyan costs about £2.50 each way. I found I spent most of the daytime at the villa enjoying the pool and nature. Loads of fresh oranges on the trees so plenty of vitamin C every day. Every evening a little family of frogs joined us in the pool they didn’t seem to mind sharing. Would hope to return here one day.

Scenic and beautiful

We stayed at Villa D’Louca for two weeks and were joined in the second week by our daughters (20 and 23) The villa is set in beautiful well tended gardens, with a good sized pool and is surrounded on all sides by farmland and trees. Internally the villa is spacious, especially the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom. There is plenty of storage. It is a 25 minute walk into town and we are walkers! However it is a pleasant walk and the taxi back is very cheap. (20 Turkish Lira) There are 4 bikes at the villa which were very handy! Dalyan is the perfect mix of restaurants, bars and shops. The river is amazing and we took several trips to Turtle beach on the river taxi. Very chilled indeed! The bars and restaurants which go right to the river bank are beautiful. Kaunos Tours provide a first class service and dealt with all our requests with speed and efficiency. They were excellent for all our transfers also. We did two of their trips (12 islands boat trip and night safari) which were also excellent and good value for money. Pre holiday communication with them and the owner was also very good. We would recommend Villa D’Louca.

‘Having just returned from Villa D’Louca, we can honestly say it was probably the most relaxing holiday we have had (being older we’ve had few !!). The garden and pool area are immaculate, and we spent most of the time admiring the view from the raised terrace every morning and evening.

The main bedroom is lovely and cool, and the bed is comfortable. Not the hard beds we have encountered before when abroad.

The area is set back from the road, and is lined with beautiful palm trees. Set in country/farm setting the area is very quiet and incredibly private. We hired a moped which takes a few mins to whizz into town. There are local shops before town which stock essentials, and the supermarkets and butchers are brilliant for fresh food and good quality meat.

The villa gives you the best of both worlds, total tranquillity with a well-stocked kitchen and bar area, but locally you can find lovely restaurants and shops if you fancy a change of scenery.

The company who looks after the villa are discreet and very professional, they cleaned the pool every day (but never heard anyone arriving). So that was real positive.

Thanks Nick for your help with our booking, transfers and hamper. We will be back in touch for 2020.

Exceptional Villa ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Fantastic villa, clean and well equipped. Beautiful location, very quiet. Quite a distance to walk into Dalyan, with no pavements on the main road. Taxis were mainly used at a cost of 15 – 20 TRL per trip. It was our second trip to Dalyan and we enjoyed it just as much as our first visit. Excellent restaurants and once again we took some trips with Ali “Sultan of Dalyan” on his boat – well worth the money with an excellent lunch provided.Nick Hicklin, the owner, was very helpful in allowing us to arrive early at the villa as our airport arrival was at 3.05 am. Kaunos Tours were used for airport transfers which I can highly recommend. An excellent holiday all round!. Sonja Greaves Aug 2015

Perfect ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Have just got back from a two week stay at the above villa. We had a hire car for the duration of our trip as we like to get out and about. The villa is in a quiet location just outside of Daylan town. We used the bikes and found a couple of routes into town. The villa is well equipped and the large pool is so warm. The water cooler is a great bonus and when replacement bottles are ordered arrive very quick 5TL for each 19L bottle – bargain. Kaunos who manage the villa are so helpful and efficient – if something needs sorting they will do it straight away (very impressed). The only bad thing I could possible say: we were so sad to leave this beautiful villa. Thanks Nick for an amazing holiday. Lisa Ashford Aug 2015

“Beautiful place to stay. ”

Would highly recommend this villa. It’s a real home from home. We returned recently after a 10 night stay with our young daughter (nearly 3years) and it was perfect. Villa itself is lovely and clean, great facilities, garden and pool great too. All well maintained. We liked the location, mountains behind us, nice and quiet and set in lovely scenery. We hired a car, which was handy for us with toddler getting into a Dalyan. Bikes available at the villa.
Booking was easy and communication great – owner very helpful with all of my questions. We used Kaunos (who manage the villa) for airport transfers (only 25 mins from Dalaman) and car hire -which worked out well. Car was at villa for us and transfer handy because villa would have been difficult to find at night.
Dalyan itself was nice – we used the river boats to get to places. Good restaurants too (trip advisor useful for ranking) with Saki being our favourite for authentic food.
Would recommend villa and Dalyan and hope to come again – we had a wonderful holiday Ruth Lock June 2015.

“Back home now and have had such a wonderful time, loved the villa, the pool, the area and the Turkish people. Kaunos Travel arranged airport transfers and three boat excursions. To celebrate our twin daughters 21st birthday, the 12 Island Cruise was a fantastic day. We had a great day on a special snorkelling boat trip too. We enjoyed a lovely meal in Dalyan at the White Lotus where the owner provided a beautiful cake and gave the girls a special party with a table festooned with roses, balloons, music and fireworks. Although rather embarrassed by such a display, it was a really kind gesture and made their 21st a very memorable one. The local restaurant, Nar Danesi, a short walk from the villa, was excellent, with delicious traditional food and pomegranate juice. All in all a fantastic holiday.”

September 2013 What a wonderful holiday we have just returned from.

Villa D’Louca is a home from home in a beautiful part of the world.

From the start when we landed at Dalaman and were efficiently transferred (25 mins) to our home for the next 10 days, we were already in love with the place. As the car travelled up the country lane, past the palm trees and into the drive, we just knew we were going to have a fabulous time. The villa is spacious throughout and well thought out with air conditioning in every room, doors out to the terrace from each bedroom and the master bedroom being very roomy with an en-suite.

I don’t think there was a single thing that wasn’t provided and we happily had a BBQ every other evening after visiting the very good butchers and green grocers in town. The shaded terrace with the huge Turkish cushions and hammock was a welcome break from the midday sun. The only problem was that we so wanted to read our books but were both so relaxed and chilled out, we kept falling asleep! We had our breakfast each morning out on the front terrace overlooking the pool, what a fantastic start to the day. The pool itself was in constant use. With the temperatures reaching 30 degrees most days, it was an absolute godsend. The gardeners and pool men from Kaunos Tours went quietly and quickly about their business and kept the facilities clean and tidy.

It didn’t matter that we were out of town as we used the bikes every day to get around and explore. Every time we left the bikes in town, they were always there when we returned. A car was not required unless you wanted to travel further afield.

The only time we needed to get taxis was when we did a big shop or were coming back late in the evening but they were very reasonable (15TL each way) and all the drivers knew their way there!

We didn’t need the TV nor did we watch any of the DVD’s we brought with us and the WIFI service was better than ours at home! Not always necessary on holiday but we are in the process of buying a property so it was very useful in that respect. We went on the boat tour to Koycegiz Market, visiting the thermal springs and mud bath on the return, which was an absolutely wonderful day out especially for £12.00. This is on a Monday and an absolute must. We also went on the 12 Island Boat tour from Gocek, again one of the most chilled out days we spent, with swim stops at different bays and lunch on board. We met some lovely people and can highly recommend this.

The remaining days, we spent happily sunbathing at the villa or taking the river taxi and dolmus to IztuzuBeach. Both options were great experiences and very reasonably priced as were the sunloungers and umbrellas on the beach.

The restaurants and bars are plentiful. Our favourite restaurant was Atay opposite the main square, very traditional Turkish fare, we also liked the Dalyan Café for a quick snack. The locals are a friendly crowd who obviously have a very good rapport with all the holidaymakers that return to Dalyan year after year. I don’t think we met a single person that had a bad word to say about the resort and most people made it their holiday destination year after year.

I think that this speaks for itself.

Thank you Nick and Monique for letting us share your beautiful Dalyan home and a little piece of paradise.

Hi
Good morning Nick and Monique.
Having recently returned from our extended holiday in Dalyan I thought it appropriate to make comment on our stay at Villa D’Louca.
Once found we where delighted by the stunning private location you have set the villa in. The attention to the landscaping and combination of plants is striking, we where very fortunate to see every thing out in flower.
The pool was extensively used from sun rise to sun set, well sized for an adult to exercise in and for the kids array of floatable toys. Your management team from Kaunos arrived twice a day to maintain the pool and gardens and basically kept the exterior in pristine condition throughout our stay. The verandas where extensively utilised, the front to eat and the side to cook on the gas & charcoal barbeques. The hammock and array of cushions on the side veranda afforded a secluded location away from the kids to set up office to keep in touch with the outside world.
The interior was spacious, well laid out and furnished tastefully. Having twin seven year old girls the washing machine was a godsend for my wife as the girls changed outfits three times a day. We where joined briefly by my wife’s sister-in-law and her two children and we found the accommodation quite adequate for a party seven (7).
Everything needed within a kitchen was catered for. My only suggestion is that you provide for the men a separate glass fronted drinks Chiller, I purchase one years ago, stops competition with the women folk for space in the food fridge, allows bulk buy/storage of a variety of drinks and one can instantly see if you are running out.
All other rooms where well furnished and the provision of kids movies was a godsend as where the assortment on novels (ever tried to read a Kindle on a sunny beach).
I used one of the bikes once, saddle is too hard, I am too old and I had a hired a 4×4.
We had one outage of power, well use to that here inn Baku and the water was off once while the municipality repaired a pipe on the main road. Felt like being back home
Dalyan and the surrounding area (Mugla) is beautiful, the Turtle beach (Iztuzu) is un-spoilt, we fortunately met Captain June Haimoff who played a leading role in the protection of not only the beach but the town itself from the developers.
My wife is Azeri, language is basically the same so we instantly where welcomed by the towns locals. Beautiful people one and all, and as we had the 4×4 we adventured far a field and found the Turkish a very accommodating and friendly nation of people.
How did you find this location??
Dalyan being unspoilt doesn’t cater for the needs of children but an hour away by car is the town of Marmaris with a good water park and various water sports.
Thank you for the load of your beautiful villa, and allowing us as a family to enjoy a unique part of Europe which you have found. I was so impressed with the design and lay out of the villa and grounds I took many photos and sketches which are an inspiration for me to move forward to building on the land I have here in Azerbaijan.

Hi Nick (Mike is rubbish – so I thought I’d leave the feedback, as we had such a super time)

Very pleased to leave some feedback for you – can you cut and paste it in?

We stayed at Villa D’Louca in August 2012 – the property was stunning and beautifully maintained, with the pool man visiting daily and a mid week linen change.

The location is slightly out of town, which was our aim – so we could enjoy the silence, and the beautify surroundings – bats in the evening swooped over the pool, swallows swooped during the day, We had visits from dragonflies, the hens and her 6 chicks, salamanders (if you were really quiet) and we stunned a brown snake one day who was basking in the sun. I loved the shaded approach to the villa under the palm leaves. We had 2 other families who holidayed with us in 2 other properties – both more central to Dalyan – but no doubt that Villa D’Louca was the preferred villa because of its stunning and calm location, and we had many lazy afternoons relaxing by the pool.

The bikes were handy for us to pick up fresh bread from town daily, but it was really too hot to go use them in ‘anger’ and we used our car extensively – but the local restaurants will collect and return you whenever you need them to.

The water cooler was fantastic, kept us cool in some seriously hot temperatures, and when we order a replacement he arrived in 20 mins! Everything you need is in the Villa and where as previous villas I have rented have no supply’s when you arrive – this had everything – toilet paper, washing power, washing up liquid, salt/pepper – and as long as you replace what you use this is a great system and gets your holiday off to a great start.

There is a supply of DVD’s and books – plus some games for the kids. The kids loved lounging on the hammock, and when their friends visited they basically took over the cushioned patio area, and had the best adult free time.

I don’t think there are mosquitos but there are definitely bugs that bite – so bring plenty of antihistamine – or you can get some from the local pharmacy.

The front door sticks in the heat – and we dragged the poor man from Kanous Villas out at midnight one night because we couldn’t get in….but you need a bit of brute force and it will open! (or take the spare key to the kitchen door in case all else fails).

Things you must do:

A moonlight cruise to the mud baths – during the day it is too busy – at night it is quiet and you pretty much have it to yourselves. If you get the row boat over to the ruins there’s a chap called Captain Apo (his mum row’s the river boat!) who did us a great deal, and we hired his big boat just for our 3 families (13 in all) and we did BBQ, swimming/diving from the boat, mud bath & moonlight swimming – approx 4/5 hours. Brilliant.

Make sure you visit the ruins over the river..get the row boat over & you have to walk 20 mins to get there so we went in the evening but beware they close at 7.30pm and we were literally kicked out. Quite small, but definitely worth it, if only for the amphitheatre.

Eat at the restaurant on the river where the turtles come daily (between 10am – 1pm) – they are massive – definitely worth it – really beautiful.

There is a restaurant (cant recall its name) if you turn left out of the villa track – over the small hump and its on the right – and you can see baby turtles whilst you eat.

Buy your meat from the butchers not the supermarket – its cheaper and good quality.

Overall – a great house, in a beautiful spot – I recommend both & would absolutely return.

Thanks Nick

Hi Nick

We had an absolutely brilliant time in Dalyan, loved the area, people and of course the Villa. The pick up and drop off with Kaunos villas went very smoothly and ensured our holiday didn’t start off stressfull. As you know we also hired a car via Kaunos Villas (they ended up changing our car 3 times, but we didn’t mind as we got an upgrade each time!!) For us having the car worked well, as we travelled to a few areas on our own, and were also able to meet up with friends a few times in the evenings, who were staying in Fethiye. Apart from that we seemed to spend a lot of time on a boat of some kind, either a day trip, visiting the beach or a private boat that took us on a lovely tour of the islands, and provided a wonderful feast on board, or in the sea, snorkelling or scuba diving. All of which were excellent value for your money.

The Villa was lovely, the wardrobe door in one of the bedrooms was broken when we arrived but it was fixed the next day after we mentioned it at our introductory meeting.Unfortunately we never managed to sort the pool lights out, despite Sharons best efforts, they did come on one evening at midnight for 5 mins, so you don’t have a problem with the lights, it must be down to the timer, but we didn’t want to fiddle with it, shame as we loved our late night dip before bed! Loved the water cooler, and such prompt service to refill. We are not big TV watchers in England and deff wouldn’t want to be sat in front of one very much whilst on holiday, especially with so much to see and do, maybe it was just knowing the Olympics were on? but if you were thinking of adding anything to enhance the package maybe Satellite TV ?

We look forward to re visiting Dalyan and would definitely be happy to stay at your lovely villa again.

Kind Regards

Hi Nick & Monique

We had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Turkey. It was our first time to Turkey as a family and loved it so much we are looking to go back in October time.

Your villa was great and we couldn’t really find fault with anything, it has pretty much everything your going to need for your stay….a bit like home from home. The water dispenser was just a god send and every villa should have one. The bikes are a very good idea and we did give them a bit of use over the 10 days. The small pool was perfect for our two little ones who spent many an hour splashing around keeping cool. We would recommend your villa and have given your details to one of our friends already.

The only downside to our holiday was the 6 hour delay on our flight back to manchester…but we can’t legislate for Thomas Cook going bust.

If we decide to book again in October do we get a discount as a frequent user …lol. A trip down the market on Saturday has got us all into haggling 🙂

Feel free to add this to your reviews

Hi Nick

I have just sat down at the computer to write to you and picked up your email!

We had a great holiday and loved Villa D’Louca. Your additions of water cooler and dishwasher were greatly appreciated and well used! We got through a container of water every 2 days! I am sure we would not have been so good at hydrating if it hadn’t been for that cooler. The villa was very comfortable and well supplied – one thing that surprised us though… we couldn’t find a teapot! The air conditioning was an absolute godsend at the end of the day when we went to bed! On that note, the remote control for the kitchen aircon unit was missing when we arrived, but the sitting room unit was efficient enough to push through cool air into the kitchen on the odd occasion when we needed it to cool down the cook! The front terrace was used for every meal we had at the villa, usually accompanied with a bit of a breeze. The pool was fabulous, although a little too warm!! Nothing you could do about that! It was great being that little bit bigger than your average holiday pool and we liked it being all one depth. The garden was beautifully planted, it was a real delight to be surrounded by the bougainvillea and hibiscus as well as the banana trees, it had a very therapeutic effect on us. The garden had come on in maturity since the photos of the villa were taken for your website.

As for Dalyan and the surrounding area, it was perfect for our needs. With two 17 year old girls who wanted a bit of night life etc., the bars were a chance to socialize after supper and they could be left to cycle back to the villa when they were ready, the bicycles were always to be found where we left them, unlocked, hours later! What a delight to have such a safe and honest community. We went on a couple of excursions; a moonlight trip up the river to the lake for a freshwater swim, followed by a BBQ then a night trip to the mud baths and sulphur pools; we did the 12 islands trip on a gullet from Gocek (through Kaurnos Tours) which was really lovely and the boys went on the Canyoning day which they really enjoyed. I had a Turkish Bath at the end of the holiday, which may sound daft with the body scrub, but actually, it was great and now I’ve done my peeling and I’m still brown! The market in Dalyan was a fun experience, doing our best to get a bargain. Luckily we had some space in our suitcases (only 2 between 5 of us!) to bring our spoils home. We were perhaps not the most adventurous family, but the children are happy reading books by the pool or on the beach. The local Dolmus bus worked well for getting to the beach, although with 6 of us, they don’t always stop if they are full already! I left a number stuck to the fridge to ring the bus people so that they will send a bus with spaces left. We worked out that Kaurnos Taxi had the best fixed rate for coming to Villa D’Louca (10TL) and we walked home several times after dinner so we could digest, appreciate the stars and enjoy a little exercise in the cooler air (still at least 24 to 28 degrees at night!).

The Kaurnos Tours staff were absolutely charming and helpful. When I asked where I could buy tyre levers (the blue bike had a flat tyre when we arrived), they immediately sent a chap to collect the bike from the villa, got the puncture fixed and brought it back within a couple of hours. The phone in the villa had a very dodgy connection, we could hear perfectly well, but it was obvious that the other end couldn’t hear us without a lot of trial and fiddle. Kaurnos came and after trying to fix it, replaced the phone.

I have to make an apology. I stupidly left one of the pool/beach stripy towels draped over one of the beach umbrellas at Turtle Beach. Although I went back to the beach to try and retrieve it, I’m afraid after asking several people, they indicated that it was ‘rubbish’. I then tried to replace the towel in Dalyan, but the choices were so awful that I failed. I am so sorry. Please let me know what I owe you for that.

You might want to warn your visitors about the cost of food and drink in Dalaman airport! I had been forwarned by my brother and so we had made sandwiches and took crisps and water with us (which we drank before going through security), the boys were gobsmacked to see that McDonalds chicken nuggets were £12 and a tub of Pringles £10! (My brother had a gin and tonic that cost him £24 last year!)

We loved it, thank you Nick and Monique. Our daughter said it was her best summer holiday yet! Hopefully we’ll be back and see more of Turkey in the future.

Kind regards

Rachel and Simon (July 2010)

Dear Nick and Monique

We’re now back from Dalyan after spending two very relaxing weeks at your beautiful villa. As the weather was so hot many hours were spent cooling down in the pool and on the side terrace.
It was most definitely one of the nicest holiday villas we have stayed in and all the decorative touches made it really homely. We particularly enjoyed eating on the terrace in the evening, watching the sun set and then waiting for the storks to settle on the pylons for the night.
We didn’t, in the end, all use the bikes, partly because the weather was so hot, but Phil cycled to the small shop down the road to buy bread daily for breakfast. Incidently, we were unable to locate the bike locks or infact any BBQ cooking utensils – but maybe we looked in the wrong places? We did walk into town quite a few times, which wasn’t a problem, and hired taxies when we were feeling lazy (quite often!).
Whilst there, the electricity meter was read and the bill handed to us, so this has been left in the large dish on the kitchen table. The alarm went off one evening when the sensor by the kitchen door fell on to the floor. It didn’t sound for long and stopped when we put the sensor back together, but the red light as well as the green light is now lit up on the control panel. We mentioned both to Kaunos. Also, the lilo was punctured during our stay so we have replaced that.
We will definitely recommend your villa to our friends and hope to be back some time ourselves.
Thank you again for sharing your delightful villa with us.

Best wishes

Hi Nick/Monique: We had a fantastic holday. The Villa is a gem in the midst of wonderful scenery. Total privacy but within walking distance to the town which is charming and unpretentious. We experienced a Turkish Bath where we were gently scrubbed and massaged…wonderful!. The weather was perfect with low humidity, SO RELAXING. We felt privileged to be part of the Turkish Community, see an array of wildlife, sit on the veranda late evening, turn off the porch lighting, view the velvet sky, with millions of stars. So uplifting. … I could go on and on. Pat & Glenn. Teesside. June 2008. One little blip. The glass casing on one oil lamp ( outside). A breese lifted a table mat, which somehow knocked over the lamp, smashing the glass. Apologies. Would you please pass our regards and thanks to the Kaunos Team. The pool lad, the cleaning girls, and especially the staff at the office who arrange everything flawlessly. Our regards. Pat & Glenn.

Dear Nick & Monique

We would like to thank you for a wonderful holiday in your lovely villa .Everything was perfect we felt at home as soon as we arrived, there was everything we needed and more. The only drawback was, that the villa and gardens were so relaxing, enjoying the pool and lazing on the recliners under the umbrellas with the beautiful scenery it was an effort to get out and about to see the sights of Dalyan. However when we did it was well worth it. The surrounding scenery was so amazing, and we enjoyed a lovely boat trip from the harbour followed by a delicious meal in one of the many restaurants nearby. Iztuzu beach is well worth a visit. Dalyan is so unspoiled and retains its charm. Kanous Tours who look after the villa for you were so helpful and the chap who comes to clean the pool every morning was very impressed when our granddaughters said good morning to him in Turkish! .The gardens of the villa looked so pretty and colourful with all the lovely flowers and the banana tree growing in the front garden had two large bunches of bananas growing on it, but unfortunately they did not ripen in time for us to sample them!. When one of our family went missing we knew exactly were to find them, on the side terrace reclining in the hammock.!. We cannot wait to return. Thanks again for a perfect holiday. Kind regards Lynda Rowland and family. June 2008

We had such a great holiday in the villa – the villa itself was perfect and the surroundings are beautiful! The weather was amazing and the pool was the perfect way to cool down and relax!
We had some great nights out in the town at the bars and restaurants (where the Turkish people are so friendly), but also had some brilliant nights in when we cooked our own meals and sat on the terrace having some drinks, listening to music whilst absorbing the gorgeous view!
Another highlight of our holiday was the scuba diving we did – we did some awesome dives; a 53 metre wall dive, a wreck dive, diving over a 4000 year old submerged town and a night dive! The night dive was by far our favourite – we stayed on the boat with all the other divers with a BBQ, beers and music.
Kaunos tours, who looked after the villa were also fantastic. They helped us to organise all of our diving and any other activities we wanted to do and were on hand for anything else that we needed.
Quite simply, we had the perfect combination of fun and relaxation in and around the villa and we did not want to come home!!

Hi Nick

We had a great time at Villa D’Louca! The villa was superb, and Kaunos Tours were very good. We did hire a car in the end as we felt slightly isolated when we first arrived – however we soon started to appreciate the beautiful location and felt very at home in the villa. The car hire was good value – but petrol is very expensive – probably explaining the lack of traffic. We also loved Dalyan – a really restful and low stress place and, with the river setting, quite unique. Generally food in the restaurants was good, however we visited Caretta Caretta on our last night as a treat, and found the service there appalling. This was a pity as the food was good, and generally service levels in Dalyan are very high.

No real issues with the villa to report, but here are a few trivial points:

– you are no doubt aware that the phone is out of action, apparently waiting for the expert from Ankara to come a diagnose the fault!

– there is no spare gas cylinder

– and the Migros card is missing.

Thanks for providing such a great villa,

Regards

Hi Nick

James has forwarded me your email to give you some feedback on our stay. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you – things have been pretty hectic since the holiday!

Our stay at the villa was absolutely brilliant and was exactly as we hoped in would be. We wanted to be somewhere peaceful, in the middle of nowhere, with all the comforts we have at home. We spent most of our days lounging in and around the pool, and our evenings cooking barbecues and sitting on those wonderful big cushions on the terrace. The pool was fantastic and kept really clean by the pool boy who visited twice a day. The villa was well equipped, and I don’t think there’s anything we needed that wasn’t there. All the rooms were really nicely furnished and the bathrooms were lovely too.

We only ventured into Dalyan to go shopping and for two evenings out – we got a few bargains at the Saturday market, and managed to get everything else we needed from the supermarket (apart from decent milk, which didn’t seem to exist?!!). We found the restaurants in Dalyan a bit disappointing to be honest, compared to some of the places we’d eaten on our journey down from Istanbul. We were much happier just barbecuing at the villa, and enjoying a fair amount of Efes and Raki!!

The only bad point I have to make is that on the side terrace (by the hammock) there was quite an overwhelming and unpleasant smell. I’m not sure if it was the drains or some stagnant water somewhere, but it did mean we didn’t use that terrace at all. It wasn’t a major problem – we relocated the cushions to the front and there was plenty of room there, but thought I should mention it.

I would definitely recommend the villa to anyone who was thinking of going to Turkey and looking for a quiet hide-away. It really was fantastic!

I hope you find that useful – if there’s anything else, please let me know.

King Regard Pauline (Aug 2008)

Dear Nick & Monique,

We have just returned from spending two weeks at your fabulous villa in Dalyan. The villa is beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything that we needed to enjoy our holiday. We were well looked after by the Kuanos team and grateful to have been met by them at the airport-this made the start of the holiday very relaxed and welcoming. We did hire a car though as we felt getting a taxi into town was expensive at 15 TYL each way!! It also meant we could explore further afield. Dalyan is a friendly and hospitable town. The only down sides being the same menu in virtually all the many restaurants and the vicious mosquitoes!!! Bring as much repellent as you can! Overall we had a lovely, relaxing holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your villa to friends&family. Many thanks, Martin and Beverley Scudamore (Aug Sep 2008)

Hi Nick

We had a fantastic time and the villa was great. The only minor glitch was that the alarm went off due to a malfunction in the remote control. Kaunos arrived immediately and disabled the alarm. Their level of service was a good as ever. We also went on a couple of their days out – watersports and snorkelling – both very good.

So all in all a great success – thanks!

Regards

Martin (second visit Aug 2009)

Dear Nick & Monique,
Having had a few hours sleep after our journey home we felt we had to write to send our thanks for a wonderful holiday. Villa D’Louca is utterly beautiful & was everything we wanted – peaceful, welcoming and well organised. We are truly smitten with Turkey – especially the people. Please pass on our grateful thanks to all at Kaunos, who were incredibly knowledgeable & kind. It was a dream of a holiday for us all – we are already missing the sunshine, and that fabulous pool. Thank you so much for all your help & consideration in making this possible – we look forward to a return visit as soon as finances allow !

Kind regards,
The Gallant family – newly tanned & rested (Aug 2009)

Hi Nick All went very well thanks. We thought the villa was excellent exactly what we wanted, clean with all mod cons great location being secluded, and the views over the fields to the hills from the veranda were so pleasing on the eye. The drive to and from the airport was easy and not long. We really enjoyed the drive to the beach and the solitude when there The pool was just right. The managers looked after us very well, even provided the manpower to remove our hire car from a ditch. For the first time our two boys were happy with their own company and did not crave fun park entertainment, which actually left myself and Galina with time to read books You have created a little Shangri- La So yes we enjoyed the break and thinking about buying a villa in the area but before doing that we thought we would rebook with you next year just have to sort out when and if you have vacancies Many thanks for a first class service from myself and Galina Kind Regards Tony Bowman (Sep 2009)

Hi Nick We had a really great time at the villa. Its in such beautiful surroundings. We were impressed with the whole thing from the spacious accommodation to the daily upkeep of the pool. Bikes came in very handy as we didn’t bother to hire a car. Cycled into town on several occasions even leaving the bikes all day outside the Mosque when we went on a couple of trips. Wouldn’t be able to do that in England. The river boat trip was exceptional value and included lunch -unbelievable! We also enjoyed our visits to Dalyan and Fethye. I’m afraid Tim broke a cup and saucer on the last night so let me know if you need me to send any money to replace these. Can’t think of anything that needs doing to improve on the holiday except maybe have some citronella candles or incense to burn to help keep the mosquitos away in the evening or mention it when people book so they can take something out with them (we didn’t manage to find any in the shops in Dalyan). The fare for Kaunos transporting us to and from the airport was a bit more than I expected at 165TL (£71 approx) as other cab firms were only charging 60TL one way which would have been 120TL (£52 approx). I will put some feedback on the Owners Direct site so that others can see what a great holiday we had. Thanks very much and I would definitely recommend the villa to others. Best wishes Sue, Tim, Angela and Chris (SEP 2009)

Villa d’Louca and Dalyan were absolutely wonderful. We were thrilled to see storks, little owls, terrapins – and numerous frogs. We loved the seclusion but found the walk into town (although only about 1.75k) very long in the heat, so would recommend car hire. We hired ours through Kaunos tours who are the agents for the villa and they were extremely helpful. Dalyan is beautiful; we didn’t have one bad ( or even mediocre!) meal as the restaurants seem to go out of their way to please. We bought fruit and veg at the roadside for a ridculously cheap price and the supermarkets and shops were reasonable too. Insect repellent is a must for the evenings as the mosquitos are a nuisance, but don’t let that stop you – we’d go back to be bitten tomorrow if we could!”

Hi Nick – we had a really wonderful and relaxing holiday. Both Will and I were up fairly early and went outside and sat on the big cushions to read – I read 7 books which is a record. My daughter and her friend got up at around 2pm so we had lots of peace.

It was great having the umbrellas out by the pool – stopped us all getting too burnt.

The villa was great – had everyone you could need, except the long mirror. We all had to stand on chairs to see how we looked before we went out (so vain!!!!)

We ate out, most nights so didn’t do too much cooking at the villa, but there was always loads of washing up. I don’t know if you’d ever think of investing in a dishwasher, which would be useful. Teenagers go through so many glasses, cups and plates that it would be useful.

All in all had a great time and felt really relaxed when I got back. The Turkish people are so nice, but they all reckoned that business was 50% down on last year due to the bird flu publicity, the muslim thing and the world cup.

Best wishes
